I dont think it looks bad, It's in your face on that photo but in the flesh you wont even notice it. Its the best mod for riding position you can get without having to change the bike so enjoy the new style of riding, and remember there is always someone who is'nt goint to agree, but they dont have to ride it.

yea im not having a go just was supprised by it i guess. Good to see that its helping with your back ache though. Worringly enough ive started getting a bad back after a short ride out. Oh dear....

I've tried a few bikes with really high bars and I found they made the front end feel rather loose, the only thing they really make sense on it motards or traily style bikes where the rest of the setup is accomodating of it. The SV certainly needs a great deal more weight on the front than standard.
That said, it depends entirely on why you are riding, how you are riding and what you want to get out of it.
