I agree with Yorkie Chris and then spend what you have left on track days / a biking holiday / or petrol.

Also as suggested GSXR front end is a good mod, but you could re-spring the front end and fit a decent rear shock and that'll transform the handling.

I woudlnt muck about with big bore kits I really dont see the point, its a lot of money for what you get IMHO.

In my experience out of all the Big Bore owners I have met 90% can't ride the bike around a corner anyway.

Not worth spending big bucks on, just get out and ride it and put the £1350 into a savings account for another one.

i agree with fizz and bibio agreeing with chris

the bike is only worth a grand, dont throw money at it, do what needs doing to get it ridable, and save the rest for petrol/new bike or hookers as lone wolf says

or if you must, get fairing mirrior etc off here or ebay

you will still have a grand for hookers

Spend £1200 on my expert advice for what to do with the rest. As a hint, it may involve paying me a consultancy fee...

Who was at fault in the claim? As someone mentioned you may need a fair bit for next year

Unless it snaps the crank Assuming you mean just fitting 700cc kit on a stock bottom end. It might last for ages, it might not. Nobody can really say, but we can say for sure it won't definately break and it won't definately last. So I would say, personally, not Also, it'd be illegal for minitwin racing

Do you want to keep it faired? Easiest way to deal with broken plastic is to throw it in the bin. If you want to keep it faired, you can spray the mirrors black (cost: £10), replace or respray the bar end (cost: very little)... Stick a race can of your choice on (cost- as little or as much as you want to spend). just replace the fairing panel, cost, depends on Ebay. And that's about it.

Don't mess with a full system and rejet unless you really want to, it's a lot of hassle for not an awful lot of benefit. And some CRASH BUNGS. Although in your case that might be a hard sell since the economics of crashing have been so daft Then... You have approximately £1200 to spend probably.

Me, I'd do some modding, a small amount of tuning, mostly suspension work. The basic Northwind Package would be this:
Cams £130
GSXR 600 front end, probably approximately free after selling SV bits, but let's allow a budget of £200 just in case it goes wrong. Or, emulators and springs in the stock forks. But I like GSXR swaps.
636 shock from a C-model bike, £50 or thereabouts. YMMV depending on your weight.
Remus Revolution end can- too expensive, really, and heavy but they're lovely and they work well. No power gain, no power loss, MOT legal, loud with the baffle out. But also they run fine and sound good with the baffle in, unlike most. Best slip-on for the SV in my opinion. Budget £100-£150 used. Or, some random rubbish like Fuel for half that, but you get what you pay for IMO.

And to be honest, I wouldn't spend another penny on it, except for cosmetics. That'll give you a nice-handling SV with a wee dab of usable extra power, better brakes, lovely sound. You can spend a lot more easily but this gets you a big bonus for a low price and gives you something like The SV Suzuki Should Have Made. And it leaves you £700 or more to spend on petrol, trackdays and hookers. In fact, forget the trackdays.

When my curvey had a low speed incident last year (with pretty much identical damage), I did as little as possible to get it back on the road, indies & brake lever only.
Also cat d, bought back. Put the cash in a savings account, anything I buy for my toy (as t' other half call it) comes out of the insurance money
Hope you remembered to sting 'em for a new lid too oh and gloves.

Greetings from Penwortham.

I'm with YC: Do what I did in a similar situation, minimum to make it rideable, a bit of "almost free" cosmetics courtesy of t-cut, touch up paintstick, autosol, etc (I had all these things already). Spend the money saved on better suspension and tools. Chances are, it'll go down the road again at some point. Unless it's a "Sunday best" bike, that only comes out to play in ideal conditions and is only ever parked up in the garage, I prefer not having to worry about future, minor cosmetic damage. I could have spent a few hundred more on mine and got it mint again (and still been £1000 better off), but every single bit involved touched the deck a second time a couple of years later, so I'm glad I didn't replace more than I did. My bike looks a bit tatty, but nowhere near as bad as you'd think it would considering 43K+ miles and the number of times it has been in scrapes.
