Illustrious GM folks, I once again crave your indulgence.
My firestorm dreams seem to be parked at the moment, not least because I borrowed a mates speed triple for a ride back from Petersfield and now believe I need one of those (955i in black if you've got one getting in the way). However, when I replayed the ride in my mind later, the only bit that was different to the SV was the speed once you opened up out of a corner, and that's not really the fun bit. Didn't go round corners any quicker, was not as chuckable and the mirrors were worse than useless. So once again looks like I may end up keeping the SV and just learning that I can not take all the overtakes the R1/GSXR/Blade boys can get in. So. To cement this latest decision, I thought I'd splash out a couple of hundred quid to make the SV better. It's got decent tyres, nice can, braided hoses had a full carb balancing service a few months ago so was looking for guidance on the best way to spend c£200 on it. Thought about having the front end resprung with some heavier progressive springs and possible thicker oil. To get this carried out by someone who knows what they're doing will be most of that or, for less than half the money, read the research on here and do it myself (not convinced I want to do it) Or get the rear spring upgraded. This seems to be a bit of a mine-field of chopping, modding and bodging so again not sure how much better it will actually be in the real world. Or just go buy a nicer jacket instead. What would you do (bike related) with a modest investment of £200? Relatively sensible suggestions welcome.

Strippers...
Seriously prolly something of whats been mentioned or off on a tangent some bar risers/clipons, they would improve comfort and give more leverage and with the left over money a gel seat ![]() |

So looks like fork upgrade and some cheap strippers. Anyone know the Ely's policy on strippers? could enliven the next GM meet.
