This is oh so very true! I started off a few months ago with very fresh memories of being a car driver and feeling not annoyed, but concerned with bikers getting very close to my beloved car. Now I'm a biker... I spent the first couple of months getting used to it all, but now it's filtering all the way (but I still need a wider gap than most!)

My examiner followed me in his car, so filtering would of made it interesting!

That's their tough luck

yep i sat in traffic for a week after passing my test and it was only one morning when i was going to work when another bike went flying past.... i thought WTF am i doing!

Got to the roundabout at the front of the traffic and felt great!

But i never learnt how to filter on my lesson's and was told not to filter on my test.

Wait til you get to the stage of sucking air in through your teeth as you realise ''ooooo now that was a little too close'', as you do an imaginary arms in, knees in and duck your head down to make yourself think you are smaller between two giant lorries
....and thats with a full kit of panniers, and the ktchen sink strapped to the back on your way to a bike weekend

Wish we could filter in Canada, half the time the lanes are wide enough to do it in a car! But then again at least we can overtake on the inside.

Welcome to the org

Didn't know filtering's banned in Canada. Do people do it anyway?

Yeah I believe you are. That's what I got told before my test. I was told to treat my test like I was driving on my own.
Also they gave examples of such occurences.
One guy was sat behind a car doing 40 in a 60. After the test the examiner asked the fella why he didn't overtake the car. He said he didn't want to due to being on his test. The examiner asked what he would have done if he wasn't on his test and on his own to which he replied he would have overtaken. The examiner then said well that's what you should have done.
