Wow, didn't realise that, ta for the heads up. A shame to see one of the best glove makers be subsumed by one of the worst.

I bought some A* SP1's a couple of weeks ago.

I tried on loads of gloves and they were the ones that fitted my hands the best and seemed good quality, I have long thumbs and fingers which makes gloves awkward to fit and often the end of my fingers rub on the crap stiching inside at the tip which A* didnt seem to have.

I bought Medium at first, they were tight but I thought they may stretch....but because of the thumb and palm armour I could not reach the brake or clutch lever which was obviously abit of an issue. I took them back and got large which didnt feel hardly any bigger but in hindsight were just right.

The GPpro's were very nice also but I felt the armour was just abit to much in them and it rubbed on my knuckles.

Anything made by Halvarssons is top quality kit. Dizzyblonde has one of their jackets and I seem to recall she has nothing but good to say about it.

I've got the black and white Sp1s too and really like them, took a couple of rides to break in, now they're great and feel so secure.

Some of their stuff is very expensive indeed, but some seems reasonably priced for good kit and I've only heard good things about them. They are also the only manufacturer to offer a 100% waterproof textile suit that offers equal abrasion protection to leathers (this particularly suite does cost over a grand though). My next textile suit will be a Halvarssons one as whilst I've generally been very happy with my Hein Gericke cruise suit (my second one is now coming towards the end of its life), the number of zipper failures (on both ones I've owned) has been unacceptable and given the number of people I know with other HG gear that has had the zippers fail, I don't believe it's limited to the Cruise suit.

The main zipper failed in my Gericke Voyager 3 jacket about two years ago. I was loathe to buy a new jacket because this one had always been warm and waterproof, so I had a new YKK zip sewn in by someone Graham at GLF knows. Now the zippers on the cuffs have failed, so it's going back for new ones because the jacket is still warm and waterproof, despite being seven years and countless thousands of miles old.

That's something I'd not considered, having proper zips put on a HG suit. Everytime a zipper has failed, I've had it replaced by HG and touch wood, that particular zipper hasn't failed again, so perhaps they're repairing them with decent zipperss and it is only the zipper (rather than tracks the zip moves on) that is the problem. If so, it seems a bit stupid that they're cutting a £10 corner on an otherwise superb £500 suit. I know you used to work in leathers/textiles, any ideas of a ballpark figure to get 7 zips (3 on trousers, 4 on jacket) replaced with top quality zips by someone who know what they're doing?

Well went for a pair of these in the end, and am very impressed with the quality, fit and feel. Obviously not worn them on the bike yet (in this weather, when I have a set of Gerbings, are you mad!?) but I'm sure they will be very comfortable.

PS Lozzo, the gf bought them from GLF after I sent her a link. Tell Graham his customer service is v good.
