The reason that a pro repair will cost so much is that the tank is double-skinned.

So not just a case of knocking it out from the back.

Wouldn't recommend air - always use hydralic pressure for things like this. Far less explosive!

Indeed, an SV tank full of compressed air would have a lot of explosive power.

mate had a restored bsa lightening and it fell against a tree and put a small dink in the crome tank, sure he said they used compressed air to blow it out.
