Ravenholm is scaring the crap out of me :(

At the moment I'm in a village infested with blokes who have been turned into zombies via headcrabs, and they're just sorta walking around, only, they're bloody well everywhere and they keep just getting up off the ground and heading towards me. I did take out three of them with a razor blade shot from my gravity gun (picks stuff up and fires it) but the noises they make (painful ones). There are now a few really fast zombies that keep running up to me and jumping on my face. It's not nice- but I do now have a shotgun.

I love setting said zombies on fire and watching them writhe in pain until they finally expire, screaming all the while.

I now have 6 shots left with my shotgun. I have a horrible feeling I am going to die, a horrible, horrible death.

it's the setting and building tension that does it

Doom made me jump a lot, in that respect it's startling, but one of the truly frightening moments, the kind where your blood pressure drops and you get the feeling like you're walking up the stairs at night, mis-judge the number of steps and your foot falls on thin air, was when you walk down a set of metal steps, then when you turn around and look through them there's a demon of some kind just watching you, and when you look at it it slinks off, don't ask me why that was scary but it was

i think it's like film, you have to be willing to suspend disbelief for a while and immerse yourself in the game, and then you truly experience it

You need to play Silent Hill on PS1.

+1 gravity gun and saw blades. Wait till the sprinting zombies make an appearance, seem to remember them giving me a fright. As far as scary games go I'd have to say Alien Vs Predator on the PC (1 or 2) has to be the scariest I've played. HL2 is superb though. Enjoy.

Oh shoot I remember those games. Made your heart go mad as the Aliens were just so damn fast!!

i never really got into any of the silent hill games at all to be honest, or resident evil for that matter. I've heard how terrifyingly scary they can be but I find all the walking back and forth looking for clues and reading stupid dialogues way too boring.

Half life on the pc on the other hand, was the first pc shooter I ever played! Wa wa woo!

What's this one like on the xbox then? I've heard a few people say it should really only be played on pc? Would you recommend it conrad?
