Apparently they reckon that Silverstone will generate more money from the MotoGP than F1 due to the MotoGP organisers being a lot less controlling.
They will now have the ability to sell their own advertising space and utilize their conference rooms during the weekend. (According to the news)

Silverstone offered lots of money hence why its going. Donnington didn't even get asked as the amount was so high from Silverstone.
Im confused really. Silverstones always been an F1 track, Donnington a motorbike track. Even with Donningtons new changes, I still can't see how it can become a top F1 circuit. Even with the changes, it'll still (IMO) be behined Silverstone. Spectators are going to loose a huge viewing area at Donnington, but I think the changes will improve the circuit. Im not sure if it'll improve the shorter track (ignoring the two small loop tracks), as the last corner was always good for some close overtakes on last laps. The last section will be a lot longer in terms of corners so less overtaking. We'll see though. As for MotoGP going to Silverstone, well, I think it'll be interesting. Its an EXTREMLY fast circuit overall,a nd to see the MotoGP boys on there at full chat will be quite exiting the first time. I'll judge what I think after that. But I will miss the wet rainey races at Donnington and the entertainment it provided. The worst loss of Donningtons track I thinks the last corner coming to the main straight coppice. There were a few lines through that, and depending how well you got the power down defined the next straight. Watching bikes slide roudn the whole bend used to be awesome, i'll miss that. But thats not to say MotoGP will go back to Donnington. How tides turn though eh.... |

Im not that bothered about Silverstone at all tbh... not sure why, maybe its because it seems very flat and boring, with lots of shallow corners and streight bits, all of which is dull. The BSB is even dull there and that is rarely dull...
![]() I hope im wrong but I certainly wont be going (been to donnie for 3 years now to see it). WSB this year ![]() |
