I am sure I read somewhere that the Suzuki cowl/plate didn't accept a standard Givi. If somebody could comfirm or deny this it would help my decision on what to get for the future.....

Doesn't look that bad on some bikes Although front end gets light when its full to the brim

Again, another vote for Givi boxes over here. Had a few, all been superb, even after being knocked off the top shelf in the garage onto the concrete floor

Handy for leaving bash hats in the summer, and for a back support for pillions, and also great for long distant stints.

But take it off when you dont need it

Crikey thats a lot of responses

How easy are the givi ones to unlock? My prev bike (ruined by a taxi driver who didnt check his mirrors) had honda hard pans that were a simple key and clip - absolutely fantastic though the width made filtering a pain - hence the top box option.

I was looking at the pillion seat replacement but it all comes down to whether my missus has enough confidence to pass her CBT next month. As neither of us hold a car licence I need that pillion till then!

My helmet has a quick release on it so wont hook to the bike so a hard top box would be nice durring the summer. I'd clip it under the back seat but the same accident that ruined my CB5000 also laid waste to a finger (temporarily at least) and so my helmet is the plastic strap/quick release type to let me keep riding

I'll look at the Givi range and see if theres anything I like...

Thanks for the advice folks, you lot actually helped me pick the SV over a fazer or ER-6 and I tell you something.. I havent looked back!

The pic shown would suggest that the Suzy plate won't take a Givi (monokey at least), the front hooks look the same but the rear latch tower looks different to a Givi from what I can see.

Taking the Monokey top boxes on/off is as simple as it gets. Turn the key, press button or lift latch depending on model and it's open/off as required.

I use a givi rack and a v46 box for work. Would prefer the rack nobbylad has. Got the rack and box off fleabay. The box was £70 inc postage from a breakers in essex had a few scratches but all working. sure it doesn't look great but it does what I need it to do. Don' think I have pics with it on other wise I would send you one.

They cost £29 at Robinsons foundry, which seems like a good deal.

I've just got the suzuki one (pillion seat) and love it. Perfect size (takes a helmet and bits n pieces)and I love the way it sits on the pillion seat-seems less likely to upset the handling. Really good quality too.

If you do consider it, robinsons foundry do them cheaper than anywhere else I looked.

Im just waiting on my new topbox to arrive - 29L Givi. Its not the biggest, but I thought it would be a great addition for touring. I have a tailpack, panniers and tankbag but none are secure. With the topbox fitted, I have a choice of adding the tailpack or panniers for extra luggage.

I managed to get a Givi Monorack for me SV1000 off ebay a month ago for £30 and a Givi Simply 450 (45 litre) top box (Monolock) in as new condition for £50 inc postage off ebay too. Dead chuffed with both for the price. Yeah, it probably ruins the looks a little, but when I'll be using the topbox I'd be using a massive tailpack and tankbag anyway if I didn't have the topbox and they hardly enhance the looks.
