Its an interesting one. A lot of people had high hopes for Nicky this year but the early vibes aren't good.

However much people dislike Stoner the fact remains that he is the only person around who can get the best outta that bike TC or non TC, and his world championship was an amazing achievement for factory & rider. I'd sooner Ducati than Honda/Dorna............ As for Rossi, enjoy while it lasts.

But I suspect WSB will be where the action is from a spectator viewpoint.

I'm in two minds about Casey Stoner on one side there an admiration for his talent and control of the machine but on the other theres the dislike of his ethics and persona.

I think the comment he made along the lines of not racing in a gentlemanly fashion like the other riders ( an indirect dig at Rossi) and the comments he made after laguna seca show that the kid which lets face it he is has some more maturing to do.

After his comments at the last testing session i will be suprised if Rossi isn't sat back in his trailer relishing the thought that his jedi mind tricks are againg putting pressure on the young apprentices shoulders.

Another point to make is if Stoner does start to ride more in a more agressive fashion then he needs to be careful. Rossi didnt make it to where he is today by letting the likes of Biaggi and Gibernau push him around.
for instance any body recall biaggi giving the big old elbow to rossi at suzuka if not heres a link to view it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXUco7omi34

all the best

I was at Donington for the Day of Champions when Casey got booed. It was appalling - I just don't get it. I was never a fan of Fogarty, but I admired his talent on the track....and I would certainly never have had a go at him by booing!

Amazing talent ??

Flippin' 'eck - if you consider CS to be an amazing talent, then you don't set the bar very high do you ?

BTW I was appalled at the booing too - especially as it was a charity event. But I think people had just had enough of his constant whinging !!

As for your final comment - I have been a fan of Rossi ever since I first saw him as a gawky long-haired teenager riding the a** off his 125 at Donnington, so I don't think I qualify as a sheep - at least I hope I don't or I guess I'm gonna have Hovis trying to chat me up at AR09 !!

Haha I think perhaps you set the bar exceedingly high. Of course he is an amazing talent, there is no question, ask Valentino.

People say he's only fast because the electronics he uses, and it's narrow-minded balls.

It doesn't automatically make you a sheep because you support Rossi....

I want Stoner to ride, he's an amazing talent, but he just cannot behave the way he does and get cheered.

He moans, is rude, behaves like a 12 year old, blames the bike/tyres/Rossi/hand for anything, and is generally a whinging git.

At least Rossi can take losing with good grace-don't get me wrong, I want Rossi to win, but I want Stoner racing this season too. Casey could learn to be gracious in defeat, that would endear him a lot more to the fans than apportioning blame. His behaviour at the end of Laguna Seca was downright appalling- and no way if he'd been the winner would he have behaved like that.

And before anyone says it's not a popularity contest, which it's not, Stoner himself complained he was booed.

Of course he is, any of the top three riders in their chosen field (trials, mx, road & track etc) are.

I like his commitment and single mindedness, I found the reaction to his outburst hilarious. All that indignation........... If he was a Brit everyone would be all over him, look at the fuss people make of Toseland. As Parish said, winners tend not to be very nice people. Also hilarious how Vale is regarded as a paragon of virtue. They'd do anything to get an edge.
