Crikey mate, glad you're OK. I had a kind of similar off early in Feb where a guy turned right from the middle lane of a 3 lane carriageway, only I was in lane 3. He cut right across me and took me out. My bike was a 7 month old K8 and basically had a cracked bikini fairing, cracked lhs lowers, bent lhs bar end and a broken gear selector and they wrote it off....so I reckon yours will be too!

You have to claim for ALL your gear, the lid can't be used again and the armour in your textiles is designed to compress on impact and you can't tell with the naked eye if it's been compressed or not.

I agreed a figure for my bike yesterday, which will be enough to clear my finance, his insurance company (Tescos) still haven't responded to my solicitors to admit/deny liability and the sols reckon it can take up to 3 months just to get a response and that's before they admit liability/agree a fee.

Make sure you get checked out by the hospital/GP. I went to hospital and they told me I just had soft tissue damage to my knee/elbow, however after seeing the physio, I have a problem with one of my facet (?) joints in my back which I wasn't even aware of until he pressed his thumb in!

Phew, nasty.

Glad you're ok.

Almost certainly a write off.

Start pricing up whether it's worth buying it back and doing up or even breaking it, or if you could replace it with a better bike for the payout.

Hopefully you are fully comp.

Thanks everyone. Just after I got it the way I wanted it too! I have considered it will be a right off and may well do a buy back and rebuild but I need to weigh up the time element. Nobbylad, I hadn't considered the armour deformation. Will that apply to boots too? I am fully comp, but I'm expecting the process to drag on as the driver was telling anyone who would listen that he checked his mirrors and didn't see me, so I must have been going too fast. The Police officer said I couldn't hav ebeen going that fast though otherwise the damage to me and the bike would be far grater. I know one of the witnesses agrees with me and he said he saw everything, but I didn't get a chance to talk to the other one. Skip, I was on the A146 about 1 1/2 miles south of Norwich. Someone told me I made it onto th elocal travel news - fame at last! The doctors have said soft tissue damage but the personal injury solicitor with my insurance is organising an appointment for their purposes and to assess any future need for physio etc. I'm calling the claims department today to see when the bike will be assessed and what is happening. Fingers crossed!

Rich (I'm assuming that's your name!), my knee and elbow are still sore 3 weeks after the accident so don't underestimate soft tissue damage.

Also, very bizarre, but I have completely lost my sense of taste/smell. Went to the docs, thinking it was just a cold etc, however he asked me if I'd been in any accidents or had any bangs to the head recently and when I told him about my off, he has referred me to a specialist...apparently an after affect of an impact to the head can lead to this?! (I'm hoping it's temporary 'cos I love my food and I can't even taste Tabasco sauce at the moment, let alone enjoy a pint ).

I have the TCX Competizione boots (with the exoskeleton armour) and I am claiming for them, along with my textiles (due to the deformation of the armour), my lid (obviously) and even my gloves as the knuckle armour is worn quite substantially after the off....amazing how quickly stuff wears down, even in low speed contact with tarmac!

Was in Hein Gericke yesterday, one of the guys there was tellling me when he had his off, he kept a 'pain' diary as a lot of the time, we just get on with things after an off and don't necessarily relate little niggles etc to the accident, even within a few weeks of it happening. He reckoned it helped him with his claim no end.

Hope you feel better soon and good luck with the bike. As I mentioned in another thread, I got a decent payout for the total loss of my bike and have been able to retain it for a decent price too (it was a Cat D write off - uneconomical to repair).

Good advice with the pain diary wish I'd done that I've got a insurance/doctors examination soon. Also got the same boots as you they are awesome.

If there's the tinyest scuff on your clothing claim for it, if there's no visible marks claim for the armour (Something I should have done with my trousers in an accident. Also never accept their first offer if you;ve got the time. I declined an offer of £200 for my clothing aobut a month ago and they've just offered me the full RRP a month later (quite quick for them saying it's been over a year now).

You can also claim for all your travel expenses if they don't provide a hire bike, busfares train fares and taxi fares (I always forgot to ask the drivers for receipts )

Yep, my solicitors (appointed by Carole Nash) have given me a schedule to complete for out of pocket expenses and they claim £35 for phone calls etc before you even kick a ball. They also claim 40p per mile for driving to the Dr's/Physio which builds up over time. They've told me to supply photos of the damage to my kit, hole in textile trousers, mangled zips/studs on jacket, toe sliders worn away and exoskeleton on boots damaged, lid dented/scratched, gloves damaged etc but also to take pictures of the whole kit to prove it was in relatively good/new condition (it's only 7 months old) as it will help get somewhere near new value for it.

I price the bike value at about £1700, and the plastics alone to be replaced at about £800. Then there's the labour and all the other bits, not counting if the forks are bent. So it could be a close call
Probably a write off, but cheap enough to buy them back and repair it.
