Hope you're not too badly shaken and recover quickly. I have a general dislike for the compensation culture but this is a case where negligence in road maintenance hhas cost treacle a lot of pain, hassle and money, and on another day could easily have caused a fatality, so go get 'em.

Cheers Keith

that sucks, normally the potholes will form in the wheel tracks as that's where the load is, chances are that as most vehicles can simply drive over it nobody has thought to report it

i hate to play devil's advocate here but with the wet and freezing weather we had a short while ago the formation of potholes is inevitable and IME *most* highways authorities want to get them fixed as soon as possible, however, due to better oil refining techniques the leftover product that's used on the roads isn't anywhere near the quality it's been in previous decades, combine this with the water getting into cracks then freezing and you have hundreds of extra holes to fill

i can't speak for your LA but here on the island they were very quick to get them sorted, the ones on rural roads go unreported and unfixed due to the small traffic volumes that use them meaning fewer (if any) people report them. on the island here in the week after the freeze we probably had 4-5x the number of holes formed or forming, now they've got it back down to pretty much normal but there's still a few that need doing

Oh dear, poor Treacle.

Glad to hear he's not badly hurt, and I would certainly get photo's of the pothole. As if it's not bad enough every other road user out to get us, now the roads are too!

Hope you get the SV fixed quickly.

sorry to hear about Treacle, lucky its only bruises.

As for comepnsation, unlikely unless reported by someone else as a potential hazard over a month ago but good to report it now, when I had an accident because of a pot hole they still took 2 months to sort it.
