I don't agree. Yes a prat but there was only one incident where he engangered anyone. He overtook on double whites and made oncoming swerve, that wasn't too clever. But I thought his control skills were pretty good. The road workers were in no danger because they clearly saw him coming.

No licence, no insurance and failing to stop though are not good. We're always complaining on here about uninsured drivers, so perhaps prison is a proper sentence for that. But 10 months for what is really speeding is way OTT. Again, it's the inconsistency of it all that's so maddenating, the average chav gets fines £150 for no insurance, |

I don't know that much about the legal system and sentencing. I can't understand why the sentences for similar crimes vary so much. Perhaps as I posted in another thread, its a case of someone having a good/bad day! |

The fact the he failed to stop shows that he feels that he is above the law. The fact he had no licence or insurance shows that he has no respect for other road users. If he had collided with someone and seriously injured or killed them, they would not have recieved the money they would have been entitled to for there future care (or in case of death, for their familys and children). One of the offences and a fine an points would have been ok. Two of them, again ok, but the fact his bike wasn't roadworthy, he was doing in excess of 150mph, no licence, no insurance and failing to stop for the Police it is fitting that he was jailed. |

I don't think the law will ever make sense. |

He's not a Labour Lord with a leaning towards charity work is he?
If so, he'll be out by Easter & will have killed at least one ( maybe himself ) soon after. |

In bold?
A motorcyclist whose bike's mudguard was held on with bootlaces has been jailed for 10 months after reaching speeds of up to 150mph in Devon. I think it's a very serious motoring offence, short of intentionally or recklessly causing someone harm, fleeing at high speed is as bad as it gets. 10 months does seem excessive when compared with other punishments, as a deterrent it works, and they know they won't fill the jails up too quickly........which they would if they gave fitting punishments for other more frequently committed crimes. |

Oh.... whoops.
I think its a fair punishment since actually refusing to stop is a lot worse than just the speeding. He will probably get out after 6 months or so though? Does his driving ban start now or after hes out of jail? Also, i thought police cars wernt allowed to chase bikes, just 'follow at a safe speed'. |
