I had a little modification in mind for my race bike, was planning to use the old clocks for that. If its still usable send it over, I might still be able to work with it.

So, the clocks you want modding, are you sending an assembly that can be plugged into an existing loom so that I can test afterwards? Or is it just the circuit board?

Dont really want to be stripping my race bike clocks to test this unit.

Dim Problem. I assumed the same flymo, which is why I only ever said I needed clocks. Note that I never specifically asked if I could have these ones.

But thanks for the thought o' Baldy-one.

I'd say you could have the LCD from my clocks when I replace mine, but that's the part that's fubar'd anyway!!

Is anyone is willing to change these 4 LEDs for me on the new set of clocks?

If you can't make use of them yourself then I'm sure they must be worth at least £20-30 on Fleabay.

Roll up, roll up................

(Mods, please move if this is better suited elsewhere)
Blue LEDS for the clocks is a BAD idea.

Blue light is the hardest to focus on due to wavelength, energy and all sorts of things.

All that blue light could cause your eyes to get very tired at the least, and could cause issues with looking at the clock, then looking ahead at night.

I know that I have problems focussing on blue sighs etc, might be worth checking out before you fit them.

I have a pair of blue LED's mounted on top of the dash (under the screen), I won't comment (in public) as to what they're for, but they certainly catch your eye.

I wouldn't like to read a rev counter with blue backlight though.

A hornets nest I seem to have created
As there was no mention of actually wanting the clocks I "assumed" Flymo that you didn't want them whereas Baph had!

Apologies to both Flymo and Baph, yet again "assume" has made an ass out of u and me, well me anyway
Sorry guys

Yep Mike, its only the cct board coming over, I posted it 1st class today, so it maybe there for the weekend
You are welcome to any of the clock bits that are left over, but I seem to have devalued the deal with my cackhandedness, which now includes taking the head off one LED whilst packing the cct board up! (me and electronics definitely don't mix)
Don't worry about testing it, I've not lost a lot if it doesn't work (well until I try to change the LED screens over anyway!!!!!)

yes i agree... but... why do Volkswagen's have blue led's in the dash?

i was going to do the same thing with blue led's untill a good friend of mine who has been in the lighting industry for yeeeeeears (owns ledfx) pointed this out to me... he suggested green, amber or white... since the clocks have amber led's in them already i left them alone...

VW use blue because it's distinctive, and wrapped in the instrument panel it's perfectly bright enough, and offset with the red needles, creates a warm, luxurious and eye pleasing glow.

And it looks cool.

Simples

Volkswagen translates as "people's car", with, in my opinion the undertone of being a car for all the people, or to put it another way - the Common Man.

Again the term "Common Man" could be taken to mean Commoner.

In the UK we use the word Chav to mean Commoner these days.

Explaination ends
