+1 on what Embee says.
I've had some rides lately on my black SV that used far too much clutch work for my liking(as its higher geared) and the muscle on the top of my hand between my thumb and pointing finger swelled up and went blue. I've never had a problem on that bike ever with lever position or clutch etc.....so me finks its time for a new clutch cable.

In comparison I've also done 200 miles(saturday) on the yellow SV on the same roads and having a new clutch cable and standard gearing for the road types, was much better, and my hand didn't feel pain once.

It's not the fact that the span is adjustable, but that they use a different type of mechanism - hydraulic vs cable.

I get a terribly painful clutch wrist on me thou when doing more than 100 miles or so. It drove the Quiffster mad a couple of times last year cos he was following me (as always cos he dead slow ) and I have to keep taking it off the bars to clench my fist, stretching the hand etc and he kept thinking I was warning him of a camera or rozzer

as well as checking the bike out, it might be a good idea to get yourself check out at the docs, I work with computers at work and one of my friends has just recently had an operation for the same sort of symptoms you describe.

I've suffered the same thing in my left hand - sort of sharp pains as if the nerves were bing torn to shreds. It started not long after I got the bike (Oct 200 and continued for months. Now, however, the part of the nad in quation is no longer sore but numb all the time - as tough the nerves are "dead". Surely too much of a coincidence that its happened more than one person !

Sorry - should read Oct 2008

I have tendonitis at the moment and my right arm was put in plaster for a week to keep me from moving it. Have had it for a couple of weeks now altogether, the nurse said the doctor may inject the wrist with steroids. Seems to be getting better now though, but I wouldn't bother riding while it's like it or it'll not get better.
Wonder if it's got anything to do with crap sv front forks (I also use the bike to commute).

Pain has gone down loads today, I just made sure to pop it into neutral wherever possible on my commute. Going to take a look at the position of the levers later, see if they need adjusting

A good guide is that they should be about parallel with your arm
