The one listed as most dangerous is near me. It is a nice open road, no nasty blind bends, in a good state of repair.

why is it so dangerous then?

Because last year two kids were speeding badly, lost control and crashed. Car burst into flames they were trapped inside.

Not nice and a horrible way for a couple of kids to die. but this once incident has skewed the statistics that badly that it is now Britain's most dangerous road. Instead the car should have been named due to its propensity to burst into flames

SIXTY PER CENT of the UK's A-roads are unsafe - that's the claim being made by The Road Safety Foundation following a recent research programme. Busy A roads that take high volumes of traffic between towns and villages represent the highest risk, accounting for 62 per cent of all road deaths, the Foundation's report confirms.
Eight out of ten of the 'persistently higher risk' roads are in the North of England; Buxton, Sheffield, Macclesfield and in Yorkshire and Humberside.
The Foundation's research also shows that motorcyclists are more likely to be killed in road crashes than other road users. Bikers account for just two per cent of road travel but 16% of all road deaths. They are four times more likely to be killed in a road crash than pedal cyclists and 30 times more likely than car occupants.
Nearly three-quarters of all deaths and serious injuries involving a motorcyclist in the latest data occurred on single carriageways, typically in rural settings through, or on the way to, national parks and coastal areas. 11% occurred on dual carriageways, and just 6% on motorways.
The road at the top of this list is the 'Cat and Fiddle' A537 Macclesfield to Buxton. Of the 27% fatal and serious collisions between 2005-2007, over two-thirds involved a motorcyclist, nearly three times the average on the motorway and A road network.
Key statistics:
12% of the network has unacceptably high risk
60% of the A road network and 25% of motorways fail to rate as safe
Single carriageways are 6 times riskier than motorways, with 1 in 5 rated in the highest risk category
Risk on high risk sections is more than 15 times higher than the safest roads
One third of all fatal and serious collisions are at junctions
1 in 4 fatal and serious collisions involves a motorcyclist

I thought that at the beginning of the year we accounted for 1% of total traffic?! Looks like many people are doing there bike test

A well surfaced, well signposted, not very twisty road is most dangerous? They must be a bit Southern down there. Or maybe lots of people coming up from that london or france or something.

Go try honister pass up the lakes and tell me how safe it is

That's cos bikers are easier to target.
Not enough people respect that road it's very dangerous if your not paying attention.
But as said I have also been there around 3/4 times and had about 10 runs of the road in total and it's safe as houses for me??
To be fair if your a first timer there and following someone at stupid speed your bound to **** up.

Too many people riding at 100% (No room for error, Yes I have made error's too)
