Someone recommended wd40 as a contact cleaner, would that be any good or should I get a specific one?

I use WD40, it displaces water (Water Dispersant 40th formula...WD40), but I assume that a dedicated contact cleaner would be far far better, as it would also fight any corrosion / oxidised sufaces
