I see what you mean of course, if you price anything highly enough you will eventually reach a point where you price the consumers out the market to a large degree.

However Westminster have an obligation to provide parking that value for money. For cars thats easy, for bikes a fair deal harder and costlier. So is charging the answer at all.

Look at European countries where there are lots more bikes than there are here. Most allow bikes to park almost anywhere as long as its parked sensibly and does not have a negative affect. IE,pavements if they are wide enough and you're not blocking someone elses access to anything, an safe area on a road and so on. They dont invest millions in new tech to do pay by phone parking, they just allow the bikes to park and only ticket the few that park really stupidly.

I'm not sure I buy the 'financial' arguement .......

Is the Government really going to continue to put money before the environment ??

More bikes = less cars ........ everyones a winner !!!

The real answer is they don't think things through ......... a Hybrid Lexus 4x4 (with its V6 engine) = no congestion charge ...... a Fiat 500 1.2 = congestion charge !!!

Hang on ---- congestion charge .... or pollution tax ........

OH, WE'RE SO MESSED UP WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT !! ..... thats the truth

See this is the current problem. They touted is as a congestion busting measure, when we all knew it was a way to take money off us.

So now they wanna sound like they give a damn about the environment and wanna try and use the green argument but they shot themselves in the foot by calling it a congestion zone and a congestion charge.

So many jokes about that whole congestion thing too. Did you know the Govt had set stats of how well the scheme will work, based on the reduced numbers to be able to afford to pay the contractor who put the tech in place for them, the cameras etc....then the charge actually reduced the traffic by far more than expected so the Govt couldnt pay what they had promised and they had to dip into public funds and take out a couple of million pounds of our money to give to Capita to keep them in profit, ffs.

But dont get me started on this will ya!

Sounds excellent, and if it could include yellow lines as well
But just don't tell me that motorcycles don't cause congestion. 5 miles and growing of 3 lanes were stationary this morning because a Fireblade stacked it into the back of a white van. That must be more than a years worth of congestion a car normally makes.
(and they cause plenty of polution too - but I still love them )
