I heard it was 4hours for your first pint to clear through and then an extra 2hours for every subsiquent pint. So waiting 12hours for 2 pints I was WAYYYY off, most Sundays on the way to football that'd have me over the limit. :O

That's for someone healthy - everyone's different.

I got stopped on my way home last year, copper was a twunt about it. Blues and twos came on (was doing just under the limit, 5pm on my way home from work), pulled me over then told me he was stopping me for jumping a red light (I hadn't) continued with the looming threat of this imaginery offence despite me politely correcting him each time he mentioned it. then made me sit in the back of the car as soon as he pulled out the breathylizer it clicked. I said 'oh yeah, it's christmas' and he kind of nodded. As soon as we established I had no booze in my blood he was ok, still don't agree with being stopped like that though. twit.
why do they have to lie? I'd be more then understanding if they said "sorry mate we've got to stop people at random to check for drink drivers, christmas and all that..." Obviusly i'd be a ****ting myself if I'd have been drinking the night before, but at least I wouldnt be ****ed off with the officer.

go have two pints and then drive your car 6-7 hours later and see how confident you are when you need to blow-12hrs means theres no chance of you failing.

I think he had to lie as it wasn't a specific stop and test operation they just need to do a certain number per week. Like you say I have no problems them testing just would have preferred him being straight with me. This particular guy was just a ****.

IIRC, they are not allowed to stop you without cause, i.e. reason to believe that a road traffic offence has been committed. So unless your driving gives them cause to believe that you've been drinking then they need another excuse.

I got breathalysed a few years ago. They pulled me in at a check point located right outside the restaurant I'd just left....... I was honest about having had a pint and, sure enough, the gizmo lit up orange. All I got was a "Thank you sir, you've been most honest. Drive safely."

I have never been so nervous in all my life, even though I was sure I was alright.

You would be suprised. I get around six or seven a month anyway. But, with the annual campaign, last year, teamed up, instead of single crewed, we locked up twenty-five in December 2008. As for the force, I don't know the exact numbers, but it's lots.
