Then I write to them telling them what a good customer I am as I maintain my vehicles, how it must be cheaper for them to retain my custom than get a new customer and that unless they can offer me some sort of loyalty discount to stay with them I shall go elsewhere. This always results in a phone call offering me a vastly reduced cost - this year from £185 down to £115 with the addition of legal cover and accident recovery at no cost. So it's worth haggling whoever you renew with.
funny you should say that. I had the sme thing yesterday. i recieved a letter form the AA saying my policy would renew and it was £130. last year it was £70. After telling them ill sign up with the RAC and ill see them in another year when i get new customer discount again the mysterialsy knocked £60 of the total! Crackers!

any one who is/was or has a family who is/was a civil servant ( of any type) should look at the CSMA and join brittannia rescue through this i pay about £115 for full everything cover any car or bike in the Uk +homestart +EU ( for 2 named cars and named bikes)

they don't have theier own crews but send local garages out and always an appropriate veichle for the bike or car
