I've used Elephant on and off for a few years and they do seem to be pretty good on the prices (always check out whats missing in the small print though).

I have used the comparison sites to get the best deal and then, get on the phone and call them.

Once on the Phone, they can ask you more questions and tailor the quote to you better than just a series of tick boxes.

Oh, and when they ask for your renewal quote... always knock a couple of hundred off it as they always try to beat it

+3, or at least the admiral group. They've been the cheapest for me for the last 3 years.

Add a named driver on the named policy. As it's not you who's the only driver, that extra person makes a difference, and it becomes cheaper...

I have always had my parents put on as named drivers, and its saved me a fortune.... and yes at times they do have to borrow my car, cos I take their car, and my dads van from time to time.. so its fair and legit

Buy an old banger car, leave it somewhere safe, and don't tax
it or MOT it, but insure it as a second vehicle on your policy. As you can't drive both cars at once. Plus the second car with admiral earns you an additional NCB each year, along with any other named driver also gets an NCB built up too with admiral. Works out way cheaper than having one car with only one driver, plus it's practical too..

and dont drive it. My car is still getting fixed after my wee incident a couple of weeks ago. Was due back wed but found more damage. As Im insured to drive another vehicle 3rd party that is not mine I took my daughters car unfortunately got stopped on way to get tax and got a £60 fine and the threat of having vehicle taken away, only let off as I had Libby in the car. Anyway daughter got cheap insurance with Diamond and mine is cheap with churchill

I wouldnt touch direct line with a barge pole after they ripped my ex off when he had his car wrote off. I hate them along with all their linked associates.

I use Churchill, which has gone up this year but only by £5 a month. I did an online quote aand cannot get near. But I am old with 9yrs plus NCD - my job does wang the premium up tho
