And do you want a bike specialised in one thing? 'Cos really any bike will do anything. some dude rode from Oz to London on a 105cc semi-auto h*nda. Guy went round world on an R1. And you see some very fast guys on track on various nakeds, modified motocrossers. Oh except h*rl*ys they don't have any purpose at all.

I reckon the naked bikes like speed triple, tuono, various streetfighters are the best bikes for doing everything on whether that's tour, scratch, commute. Sportsbikes are OK but clipons are useless in traffic.

Interesting, how so?

YC is right though, any bike will do anything. If I were you I'd go for one that excites you the most.

Useless for knocking off car wing mirrors?

BTW I recommend - a new petrol tank.

Sorted

Will - but might drive you nuts. Wouldn't want to do my commute on a TL1000 everyday for example.

Leverage, riding position, visibility. Etc. Great for twisties or the track but for *rsing it around town you want some fairly low renthals IMO.
And yes, stick some barkbusters on and they are great for knocking wing mirrors off with

Just my preference, maybe it's just me.

I'm sure you're not the only one. But sportsbikes are perfectly capable of commuting in towns, as well as going round the world

Clippons fit through smaller gaps...

Do you even get traffic that far north?

+1 I'm now commuting on my GSX-R 750 and its great through town, roomy, comfy, nimble and stable. Feels like it'd be good over distance too if the weather ever bucks up and i can go for more than an hour without hypothermia.

Whether i'll feel the same in another 20 years when my old bones are seizing up.......

My vote goes for a 750.

Oh yeah I'm not disputing that at all, I just think a streetfightery/upright/naked thing is a better commuter, town and back road bike.

Yeah! Sometimes we've got to filter past 2 or even 3 cars at once!
