Sounds like two hours labour, and he did a fair bit of work, some of it fiddly (spark plugs for example). I'd say it was pretty alright what oil did he put in do you know? Seems you paid pretty cheap! Not that it means the oil is bad, because sometimes people buy it in large quantities so it works out cheaper (i think)

Seems reasonable to me.

When I go into buy a top up oil he gets me to buy Fuch Silkoline 10w-40, so I assume he put the same in on the oil change.

I forgot to mention he delivered the bike about 5 miles up the road as well to help me out. I always try and use him because he is the local spanner man and seems to be a good guy. Without him I'd be travelling 20 miles up the road to a big main dealer and probably paying more.

I'm looking to get a new helmet and boots (RSR2 carbon dual matt white and TCX Competizone S Goretex) and he said he'd beat the best price I could find on line. Now I just need to count my pennies!

Price is about right, especially considering he delivered the bike.

I'd be interested to see if he can beat your net prices, I know my local spanner man occasionally can't even get stuff (trade) for the prices they're been sold on the net. (But in the same vein often can't shift stuff despite it being cheaper than anyone else unless they're a regular customer that trusts him...damned if you do and damned if you don't)
Those tcx boots are frickin brill though- get'em.

He'll do the TCX boots for £170 an the helmet for £395, as good as any price I can find. The only trouble is I've just realised I need to buy some heating oil or her in doors will be complaining shes cold when theres no hot water or central heating!

£170's about the right price IIRC, no idea about the lid but that's foooking expensive! I bought my lid for £150 (replacing a £30 one) but at the same time the carbon fibre equivalent was £400.

Sorry to revive an old thread but kinda need the same help again.

Bike has now done 14065 miles. Service should be due 14500 IIRC. It's only been 1900 miles since last service. Normally I would continue to ride it until about 15000 then service but I'm going to France at the end of next week to see the Moto GP at Le Mans. Then gonna head down toward the boarder with Spain. Probably gonna do getting on for 2000 miles in total. That would mean a 4000 miles service interval from the last service. That's ok, right

I don't really want to waste money on a service that isn't required. What would you guys do?

i personally would give the bike a good going over checking nothing is loose, fluid levels(brake, coolant), chain cleaned and adjusted, tyre pressures, change the oil and save the rest for the tyres you will need to buy once you get back!

It's valve clearance checking time (15k). I checked mine at 15k and they were within tolerances, but one was close.
I'd say it's probably more important to do this one on time than the previous one.
