Ed have you got a valid cover note? That is enough to go down the post office to get tax (as I'm sure you know) - The broker can post or even email your cover note. I know that online is convenient, but post office is more convenient than a fine or not being able to use the bike.

Just remember to take your insurance certificate out with you when you use the bike. If the dvla have no insurance on file nor will the pnc. Might cause problems if you are stopped.

So it's just that you can't tax online? Just take the cover note to the post office. I had this with my car a year or so ago.

Go on http://www.askmid.com and put in your registration number. If it comes up on there the Police should leave you alone as well!

This is doing my nut in. It's now on the insurance database - halle-bloody-lujah, it has only taken KGM a week to do a simple data input - but DVLA reject it and say wait 24 hours for it to update. What a ****ing crap **** system this is I want to tax the bloody bike but I can't through no fault of mine, I want to ride it tomoz but I'll be committing an offence, I want to send dog poo to those bloody insurers and to the DVLA but that's an offence too

I had a huge argument argument with my insurance over this, I had to call them several times and threaten legal action before they actually put me on the data base as having insurance, yeah can U belive it? Anyway they did eventually I would always check to make sure.

Well at 6.30am I could finally apply for a tax disc. Only taken a week to do what should be a straightforward transaction.

Not impressed. And KGM and DVLA can still have two pieces of dog poo each.

If you like i can let you have some horse poo instead, you'll have to send it by parcel post though.
