Depends on how hard you push the bike as to how much you really need to spend. If you're fairly steady Maxxis S/T might be enough, their Sportmaxx i well-rated, don't know about these though. If you're quite quick some of these new-fangled multi-compound tyres could be worth it, but they cost. Look for bargains online for matched pairs.

Best thing for your tyres is a tyre pressure guage.

only had the bike 5 days so sorting out problems from previous owner

They are baically the same as Metzeller Z6. They are a very highly recommended tyre for the SV

I also love Continetal Road attack. Haven't any experience of other continetals, but think the new Angels are good from reviews.

I had a conti motion on the GPZ and it was bloody terrifying. Fine most of the time but had some very odd slides on it for absolutely no reason.

Maybe it was just that bike or that particular tyre rather than all motions being rubbish.

Silkolene 10/40 semi in my bike, used it for my last 3 bikes but I couldn't honestly say if it made a big difference tbh.

Looking to put z6's on next change as I have a pair of Dunlops on at the moment, 209's I think, they seem to take a long time to get heat into them

Indeed, but that post that was linked to was written by one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum

As for tyres, theres a whole section full of threads near the bottom of the forum on the subject... but any of these get good reports / feedback

Metzler Z6
Diablo Strada ( as said above basically the same tyre )
Michellin Pilot Road 2
Avon Storm
