Chances are its a link or DIL programmable cheap and cheerful rf remote since they have supplied a quantity. You would need to buy one and copy the program from your mates.

We have them here for every garage, they can be copied, you need to find out which remote it is or use a website like this one http://www.easygates.co.uk/remotes.asp to get a copy.
