Get a Nitron road shock - bit of extra investment, but they come with a spring to suit your weight and they are brand spanking new!

I was also looking at a hagon shock off the fleabay but it's for a K4 and I have a K1.

My limited knowledge means I'm not sure if it'll be suitable!

There are million and one threads about it.

Look in shock table posted above.

You see your shock has 520lbs/in and 337mm length. (stock gen1)

Now look up GSXR1000 K1 and tell me values.

Yes I appreciate this, but if it isnt clear I don't know much / anything about the ins and outs of shock absorbers so the information is partly meaningless numbers to me

I'm happy to educate you about some of the very basics right here with respect to how it will affect your own bike, I am not going to spoon feed you, search function can do that.

I didnt ask for spoon feeding. I asked if anyone had the shock I was browsing at on their bike. Bit of a difference there.

P.S. I hadnt see then post stating what the green squares on the shock represent untill now

Ok then. As I was saying before, I'm sure the table is very useful if I knew a few things, such as.

What is generally a workable tolerance in size one way are the other; are the mounting eyes on shocks generally the same size or is this something to consider; etc etc etc.

And no that isnt me saying "tell me what to buy" that's me demonstrating that i don't know much about this so any knowledge people could pass on would be useful.

Thanks

It is not so much a tolerance in size as a tuning setting. A couple of mm does not make much difference but probably the worst setup problem with the 1gen except for the soft fork springs is the short shock.
A longer shock increases the swingarm angle which decreases squat under power and reduces rake, making it turn in quicker.

Only reason you would not fit a longer shock is if your legs are short.

As far as I remember the mounting eye on top is common size to both 1 and 2gen and all shocks in that table. The bottom clevis is similarly compatible.

Couple of shocks missing on that table that are useful for 1gen.

Ok Chris, thanks for that. The old short legs issue would be a bit of a problem, wouldnt really like to be any further off the ground than i am at 5'8" to be honest!

I've been looking at a hagon shock which came out of a K4 SV, am I right in assuming that this would be a bad move as the K4 shock is shorter than the K1? Or will the fact it's a better quality part counteract this issue?
