I had a good look around the DS3 at the Festival of Speed.
I didnt really like it, very plastic and tacky. I can't see the resale value being that great either. My girlfriend has had two minis, a Mini one which was fairly basic and now a CooperD with every option going so cost a rediculous sum of money. Like you I am not a fan of these either. They are built resonably well, but they are uncomfortable, bumpy and noisey. Nothing is designed ergonomically like most modern cars... apparently as a homage to the old mini, but for me it just ****es me off when thing are not where you would expect them to be. She has had it a year now from new and is fed up of it too because of the mileage she does. So, not being a fan of the Mini or the DS3 I firmly recommend the Audi A1, these are pretty cool and if they were not so girly I would consider one myself. Fairly cheap, the top spec 1.6TDi S Line one is only £18k from what I can remember.

£18k is still alot for a small car, and good spec gold would set back, what, £20,000?

yeah 18k is alot when the ds3 white is like 13,995, will have to get it on finance so the less the better really. i showed her the a1 on the net and she was not very improessed but all the car garages are about a 2 min drive from where i live and then all close togther so will go and have a good look soon
when i sat in the ds3 i did not find it plastic and tacky seemed quite well finished |

Citroen build quality this and that.
The DS3 1.6 litre engine is the same BMW unit as the Mini. |

Its not just the engine; its the plastics that rattle, the feel of the dashboard and the reliability of the darned electric windows that'll ruin the day! Oh, and dont forget value in a few years!

A fellow Clio hater!! My Sport 08 plate ate 3 gear box's, turn the dash lights on and off when it felt like it, opened the window slightly for no reason usually when it rained, and the radio would always die. I later found out the the radio is routed through the ECU and if it detects a surge it turns it off. Great fast car when it worked but it was forever in the dealers on the ramp. I will never buy french again. My old Clio williams 3 was perfect and never let me down once. funny how technology moves forward and reliabilty backwards??

Tempted by a 2-3yr old z4 for about 13k-14 k decent mileage over a new car that will lose so much value in the first year, or 2nd hand alpha gt or civic type r but I have a civic so she is not sure
