I know someone not too far from here with a very high mileage sportsbike who swears by a paraffin/oil mixture sprayed through a paraffin gun.

to be fair i think the key to any protection is its application. you can spray acf50 on your bike but if it doesnt get everywhere then its no good.

ACF is wierd stuff which creeps about, gets into all the nooks and crannies.

Also when the engine gets hot, the vapour will protect all the gubbins under the tank (and it smells nice)

How liberal, i slathered it all over the sv and never had any issues appart from the white smoke.

Me too. I reckon he just had a normal exhaust backfire and nowt to do with ACF.
