The 5mm capless bulbs also known as 286 bulbs fit you can get them from eBay pretty cheap in a few different colours can also get them from www.ultraleds.co.uk (I get a few from here, not the cheapest but good quality)

I have blue bulbs in mine but also purchased white (tried them both and liked the blue better) I have quite bad bright spots with them in, if i was to do it again (i will be in the nearish future) i would use these
https://www.crazyleds.co.uk/product....keep_https=yes (they are twice as expensive but i guess would give wider coverage!!?) |

These type do give a better spread of light but that also makes them seem not as bright (I fitted some to a Fiesta not too long ago) the green LEDs I have in my clocks have a sort of concave lense on them where as most have a convex not sure how much of a difference that would make though. Might get some LEDs out later and see if it does make a difference

Right here's a cheapy blue LED the lense is completely flat on the end
![]() ![]() and then one of these (bit more expensive from ultraleds) ![]() ![]() here's the green ones I have in my SV, has a concave end on the lense ![]() ![]() and here's another cheapy one it has a rounded end to the lense and is slightly frosted/diffused ![]() ![]() they're not as bright as they would be aas I was only testing with 9v instead of 12v but i'm you get the idea that there is a fair bit of difference between them all

OK, I know this is an old thread, but for those Org'rs who are considering changing their bulbs for LED's, this needs reviving.
Some great info on here. I need to replace a dash bulb, so decided to go the LED route (but change them all at the same time). But, there seems to be an endless choice. The info & pics on here give a great idea of what to go for. I've decided to get these & these, hopefully they'll give plenty of light with a wide beam. Thanks ppl. ![]() |
