I "think" but dont quote me on it, its because the SV as soon as you turn the ignition on the headlights come one (03 on when the headlights always on was introduced) so its to keep the headlights off untill the engine is running which is something my bike does any way

Ah I see.
Well my lights come on as soon as I turn the ignition on but that's only becuase I leave em switched on. I can train myself to switch em on manually everytime if it means less wiring ![]() |

I dont think youd need a relay, they seem to work just fine without one, and it was a k3 bike my mate has that this was tried on.

They should be fine.
All you have to do is take your old bulbs out, place the HID bulb in, then connect the wiring up to the original bike plug you just took off the original bulb. You don't need a relay as the HID's run 35w as opposed to the original 55w. The initial start-up of the HID arc is dealt with by the ballast. I had dual H4 HID on my SV. The ballasts were zip-tied onto the main frame spars each side of the bike, hidden behind the full fairings. The frame acted as a heat soak and also to protect the units from water (although they are said to be waterproof) Pete ![]() |

I would go for those, the ones linked above will work just fine but these are the next generation of ballast and smaller, so easier to hide away. Also beware Ebay sellers, there's a few H4 kits on there that are low beam only and it's not until you get right into the description where they say that's fine for a bike but a car needs the more expensive Hi/Lo kit... I would be keeping the main beam... I have 6K hid's on the car and with its projector headlamps there is no beam scatter just much more light where you need it but a little more blue than I want (not enough to make me change the burners though).
