I remember the last time we did it, but back then kids actually walked to school (shock horror) and it was all about less getting run over.

I hate feckin GMT, I hate dark miserable afternoons and evenings.

Why not leave it at GMT+1? Time zoning really only affects those from about Dundee northwards, 0.5m people against the other 59.5m.

If the Scots don't like it, well they have their own Parliament and they can make their own time zone. So too the Irish.

Get rid of GMT!!!! In fact lets have GMT+2, like they did in WW2, doesn't seem to have hurt anyone.

I cant believe we still change the clocks twice a year. Why not leave them alone, and let schools and whoever else feels the need to just open later than nine oclock?

That's too b*oo*y easy for the politicians, common sense never did much for that lot.
From National Maritime Museum:
" During the Second World War, double summer time (2 hours in advance of GMT) was introduced and was used for the period when, normally ordinary summer time would have been in force. During the winter clocks were kept one hour in advance of GMT. After the war, summer time was invoked each year from 1948 to 1967. In 1968 clocks were advanced one hour ahead of GMT on 18 February and remained so until British Standard Time, during which clocks were kept in advance of GMT all year, came into force between 27 October 1968 and 31 October 1971.

Oh my god, somebody with sense. Oh but wait, have you not got it the wrong way round. The idea behind this is it will be light later when the little darlings are on their way home. Therefore they will have to start earlier not later.

I honestly don't know where I stand on this tbh. I can see the arguments on both sides.

Does anyone know if anything will be 'saved' by such changes?

stick to gmt+1 I say. Having it get dark at a later hour means more daylight during the day, and that's alway better.

How's about changing the clocks EACH DAY ?
Monday to Friday put forward an hour at 10.00, back at 12.00, forward at 15.00
That cuts the working day by 2 hours, so a 40% pay rise to compensate.
Shift workers to make their own arrangements.
Weekends on fine days, STOP THE CLOCK when you're out and enjoy the rest of the ride.
