Took me 5.5 hours to go 16 miles yesterday most of it because of the A80.
Cumbernauld is sheet ice everywhere as we couldn't get the gritters out becuase of the traffic. They had guys scraping the roads at 1am!!
Thnakfully the Merc seems great in snow had no probelms yet!

Closed my place at 11am (1500 folk) yesterday unfortunately I had to wait till 1pm. Total gridlock by then.

Got home at 5.15pm. Normally 30-40 mins. Don't think i drove on tarmac the whole way. Hard packed snow or 2" thick ice. Felt like the tyres were flat on the rutted ice. My missus saw a madman out and about in East Kilbride on his CG125. Says she see's the old dude everyday.

Sick of ****** 4x4 drivers up ma chuff (ignorant fools) and pushing BM's up the smallest of slopes.

-8 in the town this morning. I'm dreading the fast melt at the end of the week!

Last night was a bit of an eye opener for me-cars abandonded everywhere , people walking in all lanes on the motorway looking totally bewildered, a total breakdown in the normal running of things-reminded me of the scene in "Day after tomorrow" when everyone is trying to get away-just shows how poorly we are prepared for any major global weather event-i'm gonna get stuff stashed for this in the future.

Major disapointment last night was two coppers sitting in there car while five trucks took turns trying to get up a dual carriageway hill for over an hour blocking everyone else when they had no chance of getting up-coppers should have got out and said enough is enough, pull over and let the cars by-traffic was tailed back for miles due to this.

. . .from another 4um:
" Oh, and someone built a snowman in the central reservation of the M74 just after the Raith!! Yes, the gridlock was that bad. "

Sounds horrendous up there, too cold to be getting stuck about in traffic Hope it clears up soon enough and there's enough grit about to do it!
