Yep, £48 is waaay too much. Similar products are worth about $25 (£15).
I carry a prop and a couple of straps on anything that doesn't have a centre stand. It is there for the sole purpose of keeping the bike off the ground during a tyre repair. If you call the AA for a flat then don't bother. Never, ever use one of these things in the workshop... get a paddock stand. PS. Forget the Scottoiler... The Pro-Oiler is a better product. |

The perfect present for someone that, no matter how hard they looked, couldn't find a stick, tree, branch, brick, bush, hammer, screwdriver, spanner, chock, pipe, axel stand or any other of a thousand things that would do the job in the same way, for free.

I don't like the look of that. When oiling chain without a stand I just lift the rear wheel using the side stand and front wheel as balance, then rotate the rear wheel with my right toe. It's a lightweight bike anyway, not a gold wing.

Bike on sidestand, steering against left lock stop, left hand pushing down on left grip, right hand on rear grab handle, lift with right hand. Spin rear wheel with right toe... That is the knack.

A piece of wood from the skip would do the same job. If feeling talented, you could cut a slot to the shape of your swinging arm....most probably recommended for the more clumsy folks anyway :P
For years I used part of a branch from a felled tree, which was conveniently forked at one end.. Not a bad idea to put a chuck of sorts on front tyre or wedge it against a wall etc.
