Thick plastic bags, coal sack, survival bag something like that, brilliant!
Alternatively a transit van can be a handy way to slide down a hill with no control over direction or speed.

Being a farm boy we used to used plastic feed sacks stuffed with straw and tied up with baler band! Very comfy!

Back in Herefordshire, we had the roof off an old Land Rover.
It would take loads of us at once, went straight and never broke! Ah, happy days... Now, it's a plastic ASDA thing that skids all over. May have to get the saw out and make a Ralph-mobile! Pete ![]() |

Best thing I've ever used was a great big industrial 'to let' sign, made of corrugated plastic. Get two or three people on it, pull the front edge up and away you go - massive speeds and absolutely zero control. Great fun.
And when I was very young I had a mate who's dad welded a Morris Minor seat to two chrome bumpers. That was complete lunacy. Last edited by Woz; 20-12-10 at 01:22 PM. |

those road work boardings, the 2m strips about 200mm wide with the red and white sections.
Stamp in it in the middle and bend the front up, sort of a combination of snowboarding and jet-skiing down a hill. Many a fall on one of those. |

Update - my back has two large bruises on it (no idea where the second one came from!), I can barely move my neck (whiplash?), and my calf muscles keep going into spasm. I am far too old for sledging now!
Think I'll be accidentally forgetting to buy the replacement... Thanks for the suggestions though.
