Bugger.

Last nights weather in my home town was a surefire thing for black ice this morning. Rained heavily and then the temperatures dropped to below freezing. Even the paths which 'looked' okay where like skating rinks.

Bad luck fellow name person

roads here were awful, i did do a big skiddy skid this morning, at the point where a man was waving me down to slow down as he was in the ditch ahead, 200 yards later another victim, and 2 miles further a scene where an 18 year old lost her life yesterday on the ice

take it easy kids

Glad you are relatively ok and the bike is in a fixable state.

I slipped and fell at the gas station yesterday as the spray from the jetwash and caused a thin layer of ice on the forecourt.

Man, hope you can fix it without too much cost! Good that you are ok man.

I too had an accident with black ice over the weekend...

My mates car, black ice on corner meant exit into field through a MASSIVE hawthorn bush, which isnt so massive now.

Kinda glad I took the option of being a nancy and not riding in this glorious weather for once.

Ouch! Glad no-one was hurt (reading whole thread).
I've been out for a quick spin this morning, dodging the massive potholes & patches of ice today. Seen a bump too but thankfully the slow speed car to car kind where only pride and bumper paint got hurt,

Now listen up you lot - will you just stop crashing your vehicles!

I had 7 seconds of terror yesterday on the A414 home from Epping Forest as a car overtook a horse box and was bearing down on me at 80mph. When he pulled out into my lane I was thinking - no mate, back behind that truck, oh $hit he's going to put his foot down instead and come right at me. Narrowly avoided a head on with hard braking and heading for the verge on damp roads. Luckily no ice. 5 minutes later a woman pulled straight out at a roundabout in front of me. More evasive action. And when I hit the horn she didn't even glance at me. THat's my first ride since about September and I thought it might be my last.

My guardian angel has been putting in overtime this week.

Last night I went out for a ride, in a summer jacket, because I'm hardcore like that, and it's 22C at night in my corner of India...

Very glad to read everyone's OK, riding on ice is not my idea of fun!

Oh no keith, sorry to hear about your Keith-Ice interface. Seems like neither you nor the bike seriously lost the fight though - should we call it a draw.

Hope you don't ache too much tomorrow - but you probably will!

Big hugs xx

I didn't get that experience for long. I went from "hmm, it look a bit icy up there!", straight to "where's my bike gone??".
