Another vote for HG trousers. I bought a pair a while back and they seem to be holding up way better than my Alpinestars ones ever did. They are warm and waterproof (gortex) albeit a smidge pricey:

Richa Monsoon textile pants. They're fantastic, both Mrs Metal and I have them, they come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes and lengths, armour in the knees, removable lining, I loves them I does. Waterproof too. About £100.

Laugh all you want, but I have some £50 lidl ones that have lasted 3 years of hard winter riding and are still waterproof and very warm. Not crash tested properly though...
