...from experience it isn't particular fun when it blows whilst you're pulling out onto a big roundabout during rush hour for it to go pop and leave you almost in no-mans land.

I'd get it sorted - wouldn't like to know my elecs were bodged.

I have a similar problem with short bodged wires so what kind of wire would be safe/correct to use for extending?

cheers tazdaz! good advice. i'll look into it. i'll take yorkie-chris's advice to! and just dissconnect it and tape the end up, till i can get my local suzuki dealer to sort it out.

Let us know how much dealers charge

You can use any wire really so long as it is stranded not solid. Not a critical area. Ideally 0.75mm^2 thinwall or something like that.
