I do know that the main thing she wants to use it for is to upload pictures onto her business website so it needs to be good enough for that

What's the nature of the business? (don't say photography! ) If it's just like products for sale then I bet most cameras round the £100 mark would be fine.
I have the model before the fuji I linked can upload some sample shots if you like.

I would have thought a decent compact would deliver all she needs for that sort of thing.

I think we need to take a bit of time to mull this over.
Any other advice will be gratefully received though

the big question you need to answer. Is do you really need the ability to swap lenses ? If you do, do you need that now or at some point in the future. If you need it now, then you need to go the more expensive DSLR route, which IMHO your budget is not big enough for even if you do go 2nd hand.

If the answer is no or we need that later, get a compact and get started with that and save up for a while so you have a bigger budget for when you do need the lens swap ability.

I'll say it again, dont get hung up on megapixels, its not the be all and end all of digital photography.

Uh oh, if she's going to be taking pictures of house interiors than you might be in for a price surprise... My main concern with that wouldn't be the number of megapixels (resolution), but how wide the lens will go (field of view).
Most compacts / DLSR start above 28 mm equivalent, which is frankly not enough when you're trying to show a whole room. The widest I can recall off the top of my head is Panasonic TZ series 25 mm equivalent, and even that is not *that* wide. You can always get optical adaptors to expand the camera's field of view, but that's never the ideal solution.
Getting a DSLR will allow you to get proper wide-angle lenses (16 - 17 mm equivalent for "cheap" DSLRs), but even the cheapest wide angle lenses will set you back in the region of £400 (and that's without the camera).
Of course the other solution is to find someone with such a lens who's willing to borrow it and get a camera that will fit said lens...

scrap my advice they still go for way over £200
