Best to have some agreed signals - such as when I tap you on the leg I'm going to accelerate so hang on tight. And also something so that she can tell you if she needs you to stop or slow down.
+1

Triboseat and Love Handles

Signals...

I typically ask if she's ok with the universal OK signal

1 tap = yes
2 taps = no

If she wants to get my attention she'll tap several times and if she wants to stretch a leg or shuffle on the seat she'll tap my leg a few times.

Also explain that if she wants to move about, stretch a leg etc. it's best to do it when you're on a straight piece of road traveling at a constant speed.... Not when you're between 2 and 5mph coming to a stop...

Controls - concentrate on being smooth.

Build your speed up slowly...

Otherwise enjoy the planted rear end of your SV.

They make a big difference - but until you know if the Mrs is going to ride pillion regularly then some of this will do in the meantime, just wrap it round the seat.

In the event of having to stop suddenly it may save you having to extract your dangly bits from your ribcage if she slides into you (just ask Treacle and Ravingdavis how that feels when my 8 stone gets thrown forward at speed!)
Your not wrong. Seriously get one of those Triboseats if she slides around a lot... makes things a lot more comfortable for everyone.

Oh and tell her not to distract you by pointing to things along the lines of "Ooooh, look, a red kite flying above us!" (Sorry RD - I won't do it again)

And be aware that when you are eyeing up that pretty girl in the short skirt walking on the pavement your Mrs will realise what you are doing and thump you.

Yup - it's completely open to interpretation...

'Should we get an intercom' - she asks

'Sure. One of those cheap jobbies from Lidl will do' - I respond

Knowing full well that they're rubbish over 60mph and like a piece of rocking horse to get hold of at Lidl in the first place.

I shall be taking my first pillion shortly (tomorrow weather depending).
I must remember to tell her about the taps first, as she's pretty nervous!

To add to what everyone has said. Smooth be the key, watch those gear changes or youll get thumped in the back of the head.

Yep be smooth...give her tips like hands on the tank when breaking so her weight isnt shifted onto you and your arms.

once shes use to leaning and your riding its all good, the gf doesnt really slow me down much at all these days and always wants to go the back routes because i get it far over, just less overtaking as you have to wait for "bigger" gaps.
