I have had a pair of Fieldsheer leather pants for 2+ years.
Not crashed in them but they are heavy weight leather and seem to be very sturdy in construction. Wore them to AR10 but will be getting some new ones soon. They are still in very good condition but I've dropped 3 stone since the first of the year and have to use braces to keep them up for now. Quality is excellent.

Their older stuff was good for sure, but the newer stuff I'm not so sure about. I bought a 2-piece suit a few years ago, and it's heavy and thick, but I binned it at Cadwell at Park Corner, 50mph, quick slide on my ass on the tarmac before going onto the grass. That was enough to tear a hole in the ass, thankfully I had my wallet in there (didn't want to leave it in the truck) and that got ground away too. After that I went out and bought a Clover suit for track days. I still wear the FS one on the road but I'm going to replace it when I can, they're just not what they were, and the weight doesn't mean they're that good if the leather isn't so tough. I had another Fieldsheer suit before that, which I bought in the mid-90s, and it while I looked the same, the fit was better and it stood up to a lot more abuse.

Cheers for that guys / girls. Thought i might aswell have them for the sake of £50. feel like theyll take some getting used to compared to the textiles i usually use, went for a quick blast in them yesterday to make sure they felt alright on the bike and they seem to grip you into the seat much more than the textiles. Ill just see how we go on for the time being.
Cheers, Danny |

Makes no odds what it's branded as. I worked for the Fieldsheer importers (they sold all sorts of bike related stuff, not just Fieldsheer) as a sales rep and even the older stuff was made in the far east. Quality was about the same if it was early or late stuff, and like other similarly priced leathers you got good and bad depending on what factory in China or Pakistan made the suit. It's average quality gear whether it has the full name or FS on it. Your Scottish salesman was talking out of his ars<cough>hat. The Fieldsheer and FS names are both owned by the same American company, I was told at the time they just rebranded for Europe to try and drum up new interest in an old brand that had gone out of favour through not having a UK importer for quite some time. EDIT: As I haven't worked for that company for some years I just did a quick google search and found the official Fieldsheer site are using the FS branding on their USA centred products now, albeit with a newer version of the older logo. That was the same dealer that took Kilted Ginger's radiator cap off with mole grips, because the mechanic didn't realise he had to undo the little screw. ![]() |
