Looking at pics of new batterys my terminals do seem a really weird shape

they look like they've been melted like said earlier.

If it was that hot surely it would have damaged the plastic surround? Looks like someone's been ragging it about tbh. Can ya get a nut under there ?

Push halves together with grips and solder it up carefully?
