Father-in-law has Type 2. He wasn't remotely lazy but he was pretty overweight, mostly due to eating ridiculously rich foods and too much drink. He's taken two years to get from really quite unwell to almost no symptoms again - probably halved his alcohol intake and lost a couple of stone in weight. Stick with it TW, half the battle seems to be knowing what's actually wrong

How many pints a week?

Not very scientific but, if you find yourself peeing a lot your blood sugar is high, its the bodys method of getting rid of it. Tired, thirsty, peeing a lot, high blood sugar. its not sugar that gives you high blood sugar (well it is) but carbs, rice, pasta, tatties, fruit milk, you'd be amazed.
oh, diet beer, coors light, bud 66 etc

I think it is gross negligence from your GP that after complaining of these symptoms, at your age he didn't do blood tests and look for cholesterol and diabetes!!! They need their arms chopping off!!!!

With regards to cholesterol, it is a number of things that contribute to it being high, and one is stress!! If you already have a healthy diet, low on cholesterol then you could be one of those people that have high cholesterol by default. I am one of them! Had it at 5 since I was 16 and will not drop whatever I try.....I don't take pills as I'm too young for it to be a concern.

The diabetes is easily manageable at Type II with diet and exercise. Walking the dog unfortunately Tim doesn't constitute as exercise I walk the dog as well but it's not helping with weight loss Try some cycling or something that makes you sweat a bit......sex is one

my dad has type 2 i think, he's on a cocktail of tablets every day although they're not just for diabetes.

he's recently been told to change his diet so that he's to eat little and often instead of stuffing his face and going the rest of the day on nothing/crap (he would have low sugar attacks, shakey, feeling faint..) and also told to lose some weight fairly quickly and be more active or he could be losing his legs in a few years...

but he's had diabetes for a long time, not sure how long in total but he would always be eating sweets and drinking very sugary drinks and generally just had a bad diet. he's been losing his eyesight and losing the feeling in his feet for a while now but still soldiers on and is now doing 10-20 mile bikerides 5 times a week.

and RE walking the dogs a couple of miles, with you doing that on a regular basis, your body gets used to it's not really exercise (sp) anymore, so you need to either walk them further, more often, or get some running shoes. lol

Only 6 tablets ? My ex was on over 20 a day!

Sorry to hear about it, but hopefully you'll be fine and it won't change your day to day life too much. I hope whatever changes you make to your lifestyle make you feel better
