I've been looking for van quotes.

Doesn't work that way for me. 0 no claims almost doubles it. Although that was only compared to 8 Years.

I want to know though if I can use my 8 years NCD from my Car onto a Van.

Yep you can, what they won't let you do is use it for another vehicle as well, something I've never understood tbh.

I'm the one who's not had any claims or accidents but you're only allowed to use that history and discount on one vehicle, thats bullsh*t.

Yeah it does seem unfair. I guess the other way of looking at it though is if you had an accident the policy would go up on both policys.

Or get a multi car policy...although I guess your problem is trying to insure a van and a car, you probably won't get them under one policy would you?

You would, but my van is under a commercial policy but you can insure some vans on a domestic policy.

Thing is though Chris, if you have 5 years ncb on one policy and 0 years ncb on another, regardless of which vehicle you have an accident in, you have to declare it so it will affect your premiums.
They want it all their way, they want to separate your claims bonus but not your claims history.

Multi-car policies or some insurers will, I'm with Swiftcover and have my no claims on both cars, with the wife named on both vehicles, but named as the primary driver on hers. On the phone they said they can't do it, but they will give me a discount equivalent to the NCD on the second car, but when you go online and look at the schedules for both policies, it shows the NCD on both.

I've never had a cheaper quote on the net than on the phone (despite 10% online discounts ) , it's alright for a rough figure but you know when you do the ring round you can knock atleast a couple hundred (in my case) off your best net price. You can't haggle with a computer...

I know it's total ballsacks, so what can we do about it, it must be fraudulant on their part, we tried recently for insurance on a 1300 quid car 0 no claimes as it was used on another vehicle, quote 1300, i declined their offer

Van insurance is biggest joke in the world. £2000 for me to insure basically anything. How am I double the risk of some boy racer in POS chaved up corsa when I'll be bimbling about at 55mph? C***s!

Any tricks? Form a limited company and take out company cover?

Whoa that's harsh!! With no no claims for me the most I got was £1200 but I have had my car license for 9 years now.

All insurance is a joke at the minute. There's supposed to be some kind of investigation going on at the minute but what good that's going to do?

I pay double now for the same car than a did 4 years ago with despite having more no claims, going over 25 and holding my license for longer.

Contemplating giving up driving altogether. I reckon if I hold out long enough I might get a company car!! Haha
