The saab is a vectra, the company i used to work for supplied the seat control mechanisms for the convertable seats, they were very poor designs, had quite a few failures as well.

I think the audi will be made better tbh, especially as my company supplied VAG also and all their test requirements / specs were at least 50 % higher than everybody else's.

I see a bit of a pattern developing but too early to call yet, my thoughts, we have yet too see a saab up close and personel so to speak, don't seem to be that many for sale round here, but was of the impression that Audi's were maybe of better build quality, not bothered about the sterotype they have company car drivers etc, but want the eventual car to be reliable, cos otherwise both these marques will no doubt cost a fortune to repair, will be going to look at a Saab this weekend, if it's still there.

There has been no such thing as a "proper" Saab since the old 900. GM ruined them IMHO.

The Saab 9-3 is a compact executive car produced by the automaker Saab in Trollhättan, Sweden from 1998. The convertible (cabriolet) version was manufactured in Austria by Magna Steyr until 2010, when it was moved to Trollhättan. The 9-3 shares its GM Epsilon platform with the Opel Vectra, and with the Cadillac BLS, which was made on the same assembly line up until 2009 in Sweden. The 9-3 is currently Saab's entry-level model; between 2005 and 2006 in North America, the Subaru Impreza-based Saab 9-2X was its entry-level model.

A friend of mine is a huge fan of SAAB but after changing 3 models in 4 years, all with premature failures of some sort he has given up on them and got a VW.

Out of the 2 choices I would get the Audi for built quality hands down. I don't really care what other people drive. There's always going to be a **** somewhere driving the same care as you.
