Not all traffic wardens are bad. Some of them only stab grannies.

I call them "Parking Nazis"
Terroists for the british motorist and just another way that the councils like to milk the old and dry cashcow that is the public.
Annoys me even more when you see police cars/police staff cars parked illegally and/or abandoned for 3 days in 2 pay and display parking places yet nothing happens to them.
I may still have the photo to prove that.

he says it was the worst most horrible job of his life.
I went and saw a boxing day football match at Highbury a couple of years before the Gonners moved to the Emirates and the parking attendants were out in mass like a hit squad. Anything for a buck.

A scaffolder my dad knows is currently serving time for GBH or the likes after roughing up a parking warden who wrote him a ticket whilst he was unloading scaffold poles outside a house. I know you can apply for suspension of parking regs etc but there has to be a common sense approach.

Its regarded as a tax in London by many businesses. If you need to load/unload stuff in Westminster you budget for a ticket and charge the customer.

Last Traffic Warden in our little town had his push bike cut into little pieces and returned to where it had been left, whilst he was doing his duty.

He wasn't popular for some reason

This disgraceful behaviour reminds me of an incident when the former Shropshire County Council took over parking enforcement. They created a posse of wardens called 'ParkRight, and these people issued tickets like confetti. There was a loading bay outside my old office and clients would stop off for a few mins to bring in documents, the wardens waited in the shadows and when clients came out 5 mins later they had a ticket.

But the managers were corrupt, too. One driver was adamant that he had not parked on double yellows and appealed. So the managers decided that they would make him pay, and they issued instructions to the Council's highway contractor to go paint yellow lines to beyond the point where the driver had parked up. And they then defended the ticket on the basis that yes there were yellow lines there.

Undeterred, the driver smelled the rat and served the Council with a Freedom of Information Act request, which disclosed the instruction to Enterprise.

The manager was sacked, and that was the turning point for Park Right. There were 18, now 6, and they cover the entire county, so the chances of a ticket aren't very high, and they have instructions to be friendly and not to issue a ticket unless it's blatant.

In future just leave your car in the road and help. Dont bother parking up. If someone is injured in the road traffic should'nt be trying to squeeze past. Use your car as a barrier to keep them safe. (but with out too much danger to yourselfs)
