Morning,

Right due to the fact that when I turn the mains off the cold water stops I'm guessing theirs no cold tank. I also seem to remember something about it not being needed when the shower was fitted 5years ago! Attached a couple if pics of the pump. Us there anything I can replace it with?as I think this will be the easiest option.

Jeez, that's pretty untidy work that tbh, you can't just replace the pump, it's connected very badly, it may not even be faulty.

Few of things I need you to clarify.

Have you a copper hot water cylinder in your house?

Where is it?

If you do have one, you HAVE to have a cold water header tank, if you haven't then you have a combi boiler, this means it works on demand, turn the hot tap on and the boiler fires up.

If you have a combi boiler, you 100% do not fit a shower pump to it.

Your pipes need sorting dude, you can't sticky plaster it, it won't last or work correctly.

It's got a copper tank and that's sat under the pump.

This may not be related but we have just had a similar set-up fitted in our house and we are having issues with contamination in our header tank blocking the filter in the pump. Basically, cavity wall insulation got into the hot water header tank and over time blocks the filter. To clear it I turn of the hot water from the tank, drain and remove the feeder pipe and clear the filter.

Omg it gets worse

Unless you have a dedicated negative head pump, it must be fitted at the base of the tank, not above, it will feck the pump up.
I'm shocked it's been working at all.

You have to have a header tank in the loft or above the copper tank.

I've gotta pop out now but when I get back I'll draw a diagram of how it should be.

WTF?
Maybe the pump wasn't there originally, it looks like the massive loops would join up.
With my bodge hat on, you may be able to get it working by taking out those huge rises before the pump to give the pump a fighting chance of working, but Specialone will show you correct way I'm sure.

OMG...I haven't been in the game for years, but that's some seriously fecked up plumbing right there!

It would be funny if it wasn't actually installed!

If you have a copper tank there must be a header tank unless it's a fancy new one with an integral header tank.

I need to know the details tbh mate as I can't help you properly without it.

If you didn't have a header tank then when turn the mains cold off the hot would stop too instantly.

Post your exact make and model of boiler please too.
