They are not scalpels, they are a heavy engine and frame. Compared to many other bikes, they don't handle that well.
You want something that corners like the 650 but faster... buy a 750...

I would not put thou lump in, bit of a laugh but the advantage of the 650 is in light weight and nimble handling, you would lose this with so much more weight.

There are lots of things you can do for a good amount more power, which will make a difference, for not that much more money.

So you say to him to buy an SV1000 and ride it within it's limits!? That is opposite!

What you should do is keep the 650, get some well sorted suspension on it and ride the absolute trousers off it.

I was meaning instead of getting a 650 and forking about with it with engine swaps etc just ride the 650 like a nutter (slow bike fast*)and in theory you'll enjoy riding it like a mother rather than riding the 1000 at half capabilities

* = SV650 isn't the fastest bike but if you get talking to MR owenski and convert to drz 400 then its a rocket ship in comparison

What Chris said.
If you need more go get a Gixer 750 or XZ 7.
Light and powerful.

Start at the easy end, reduce weight, fit better suspension and then talk to the people who do big bore kits. However, I seem to recall someone saying that with a big bore kit, the starter can barely get the engine going.

If you are still keen to look at big bore kits, JHS racing in Bristol do stuff for them, but I do not know what effect this has on the engines long term life.

None of this is cheap though, but it will leave you with a super bike that could be a bugger to insure! Good luck

For the large cost of upping the 650, and the agro of reliability and getting it insured ,Just get a bigger bike.
I looked in to it and its just too expensive,

Ye; after reading all that I think i'll stick with the PC3 and just have it as a winter hack - can't get rid of it. Looks like i'm saving up for another Millie............... RC8 or an SP-2. Choices choices
