Very interesting, didn't know this was still going on, he's got balls Don't know why he won't accept their offer of being taken back home though, he's done the nekid walk, and is not averse to putting on clothes when it suits him. I wonder why the lad keeps getting custodial sentences. Its supposed to be an opportunity to re-educate, not just punish. He won't have his opinion changed but the courts seem unwilling to find an alternative method of education. Seems like bullying more than anything else.

The media call Gough the Naked Rambler. He's serving 657 days for a breach of the peace and contempt of court. The breach was leaving HMP Perth naked after finishing a previous sentence. He was taken to Perth sheriff court, and represented himself naked. That was the contempt. When he returned to the prison, the cell was just as he'd left it – he hadn't bothered to pack.
Gough's latest conviction is his 17th in 10 years. Since May 2006 he has been in a run of short sentences broken by the same fleeting freedom: he's effectively been in custody for nearly six years for refusing to get dressed. At a recent hearing, it was suggested he could be in prison for the rest of his life. "People often have to go to prison for many years," he said, "before others see the light."


as the above says he has been locked up for about 6 years out of 10 and is in prison for contempt,i dont know the answer to how to solve the problem this chap has and the way society should handle it,but lets compare his sentances for hurting know one and being naked, to the 21year sentence norwegian mass killer anders behring breivik has recieved, and posslbly(but unlikely) out on parole in 11years for killing 77 people and wounding many more,and does stevens gough prison sentence/s match his crime,or can being naked really be called a crime

Don't think you can bring Breivik into this, the laws in Norway are totally different to ours and 21 years is the maximum sentence they can impose however, over there they have to power to keep him indefinately providing he is still considered a danger, it just means after 21 yrs, he is allowed to challenge their ruling every 5 yrs. Another countries laws and sentencing has no relevance to this though.

I agree with Bluefish. They have offered to transfer him to an English prison so that when he is released, he can go home. The Scottish courts have deemed it to be a breach of the peace and I see that unlikely to change. He's made his point, in England with some success, up here, not so much.

Godsake man, take what the prison service offer you and go and try and build a relationship with your children.
