Cheers Dad. All the cylinders are accessible from under the tank though and face upwards, so I think it should be fairly easy to attach the gauge (screw in type) and turn the engine over while reading it. I'll come scouting for help once the kit arrives if it's a problem.

Yes! Pretty sure it is. I would imagine it's the piston seals as that tends to be the culprit with high rev based oil burning, based on my research. I think I'll probably leave it this winter but next winter I may take my first venture into a top end overhaul.

Yeah. £11.49 delivered mate. I figured if I drove/rode to borrow one from someone else, I'd spent at least £5 on fuel doing it. Made more sense to buy one then I can keep an eye on pressure changes in any bike I own since I tend to buy tatty cheap ones. Cheers anyway.

Simon are you absolutely sure you don't already own one? I know I'm not the most mechanically gifted round here but I most definitely saw one of these in a box in your garage on Monday when we put your bike away.
